ABOUT
Hello, I’m Jody Sturdy O’Connor, Principal Consultant and Director of Research & Evaluation here at Colibri.
As an educator, nonprofit program manager and scientist I’ve worked with communities in the Pacific Northwest, New Mexico, Ecuador, Alaska and South Africa. I’ve seen researchers and programs working hard to create positive impact, but they often miss key elements needed for lasting change — direct input from the communities they serve, and solid evidence of success (or of changing needs).
With a passion for building equity, and a belief that all people bring valuable knowledge to the table, I’ve spent years studying and experimenting with participatory data collection and facilitating group processes in both Spanish and English. Using quantitative and qualitative methods rooted in Popular Education, Colibri Consulting continues to coordinate diverse teams to leverage participant strengths and understand community needs.
I deeply enjoy learning from these communities and seeing how outreach and evaluation strengthens program support and decision making that creates positive, lasting change.
